Here we come 2009!!!!!!

So, we did it! First Barack, now a full year of G3 almost complete! Its amazing what a few wonderful ladies can do when we put our minds to it.

I'm looking forward to another year of great events and donation opportunities; in fact, we already have leaders for the full first half of the year! How awesome is that?! Thank you to everyone who has participated or supported G3. More details and wrap up of 2009 to come...

IDEAS for the December BLOW OUT?!

Vision alert! As we rapidly approach a full year of G3, I think we are all looking forward to having a fantastic year end celebration. My recent vision for December is to have an all out BASH (starring, say, my favorite DJ KULCHA!) and seriously focus on some external fundraising with the goal of starting a G3 Scholarship Fund! Depending on amount raised, we could give money to students at our former high schools for books (for instance).

Let's think of other ideas and options too! We can discuss and vote on ideas G3-style! SMOOCHES.

August Follow up - how much did we collect??

Please send the total amount that you spent on supplies to leader Peggy Noel and/or Ceyenna Bennett as we keep track of G3's successes for 2008!

BACK TO SCHOOL at Hostos

G3 ROCKS... not only did we pull off another successful event this month... Everyone arrived home safely in time to watch Barack make history.

Held at Hostos Community College, G3 gathered and celebrated "Back to School" with 6th grade participants of the SummerBridge program, entering the Hostos Middle School in the fall. We served pizza, played games and supplied the school tools. With the help of the school Social Worker, Nola Macek, the event was held without a hitch. THANK YOU G3 for your persistence, diligence and commitment to the community.

AUGUST EVENT

G3... I have FINALLY gotten it together and coordinated an event for this month.

Safe Horizon is the nation's largest victim assistance agency. They comprise of several different entities including, but not limited to: counseling, advocacy and preventative programs for children and families.

I have coordinated with Melissa Madzel, Corporate Volunteer Manager and Nola Macek, School Social Worker at Lehman High School to hold a Back-To-School Event for approximately 20 students enrolled in the Summer Bridge Program. The event hosted by G3 will allow us to celebrate their participation in an academic study through the summer, while providing them with the supplies that they need for the forthcoming school year.

The list of supplies vary from backpacks to pencils... the best days seem to be Thursday, August 21st or Thursday the 28th... Let's coordinate our days and go good!!!!

Hello ladies! If you haven't heard the word on the street yet, the Saturday event in Brooklyn was a SMASHING SUCCESS! A great time was had by all, panel and kids! Three cheers for our Leader of the Month - Rhea Hamilton. Please stay tuned for our August event to be hosted by Peggy Noel. Details for August and pics from July coming soon!

WELCOME TO G3 - THE BLOG!

The idea behind G3: A leader is assigned every month to select a charity or organization. Leader decides whether to sponsor a volunteer activity or a donation starting at $5. Great to have both options, if possible, for events. NO PRESSURE - participate if and when you can; if you have interest; give as little or as much as you can. If a monetary donation, Ceyenna will collect for matching with Citigroup (unless others have company matching).Leader should send save the date or basic information with date, time and charity/org at least 2 weeks before the event. If you can't participate in the month you have assigned or wish to switch, notify Ceyenna asap. If you have friends who may want to participate, notify Ceyenna to update the email distribution list. If you need help with identifying a charity or an organization or person/group, contact Ceyenna for assistance.
